Nerves, Jitters, and Imposter Syndrome will not deter me!

I am SO incredibly nervous about tomorrow. I have given training sessions and taught classes, but I have never presented on such an important topic to a room filled with my social work colleagues. Tomorrow, I will present my capstone research to colleagues from the National Association of Social Workers for my Doctor of Social Work degree.

My capstone focuses on the intersection of domestic violence, economic abuse, and homelessness.

It's such a heavy topic.

I don't work day-to-day in domestic violence as others do, but I do work with people who have experienced domestic violence. It is often the driver of their homelessness.

My discussion tomorrow will focus on the silent driver of homelessness during domestic violence: economic abuse. I hope to drive home my message in a way that motivates people to learn more and research what their organizations can do to protect survivors and keep them out of the homeless system.

A former colleague and friend was so gracious to wish me good luck. She's been in my corner since day zero of this degree, and I am so grateful. Tomorrow's session will likely not be recorded because it is for a paid conference.

If you want to know more about the subject, I'm always happy to talk.

Here's to shaking off the nerves!
