Camille D. Rodriguez, DSWc, MSW
Social Work Professional, Housing & Human Services Leader, Educator, and Doctoral Student
Welcome! I'm Camille D. Rodriguez, a passionate social work professional, educator, and advocate dedicated to advancing social justice, strengthening communities, and creating meaningful systems change.
With extensive experience in housing, homelessness prevention, human services, and nonprofit leadership, I have devoted my career to addressing systemic inequities and improving outcomes for individuals and families experiencing vulnerability. My professional journey has included leadership roles in nonprofit organizations and local government, where I have worked to develop innovative programs, strengthen service delivery, influence policy, and expand access to critical resources.
Currently, I serve as a Housing and Human Services Program Manager for the City of Alameda, California, where I help lead initiatives focused on homelessness prevention, housing stability, community engagement, and coordinated responses to homelessness. My work is grounded in the belief that effective leadership requires compassion, accountability, collaboration, and a commitment to equity.
My Doctor of Social Work Journey
I am currently pursuing my Doctor of Social Work (DSW) at the University of Southern California, where my academic interests center on addressing complex social challenges through innovative, evidence-informed, and community-centered solutions.
My doctoral research focuses on the intersection of domestic violence, economic abuse, housing instability, and homelessness among Black families. Through my capstone initiative, Safe Roots, I am exploring how culturally responsive education, awareness, and early intervention can help individuals recognize economic abuse and access critical resources before experiencing housing loss.
My doctoral journey represents more than an academic achievement. It reflects my continued commitment to learning, challenging traditional approaches, and translating research into meaningful social impact.
I invite you to follow my doctoral journey as I share research insights, academic milestones, professional reflections, and lessons learned throughout the process.
My Passion for Education and Knowledge Sharing
Beyond my work in housing and human services, I am passionate about teaching, mentorship, and professional development. As a college educator, I enjoy creating engaging learning environments that encourage critical thinking, meaningful dialogue, and the application of sociological and social work concepts to real-world challenges.
I believe knowledge should be accessible, practical, and empowering. Whether through teaching, professional trainings, consultation, or community engagement, I strive to bridge the gap between research, policy, and practice.
Why I Created This Website
I created this space to document my professional and academic journey, share knowledge gained through my experiences, and connect with individuals and organizations committed to positive social change.
Here, you will find reflections on my Doctor of Social Work journey, insights into housing and human services, discussions about social policy and systemic inequities, and resources related to homelessness prevention, domestic violence, economic abuse, and community well-being.
This website also serves as a platform for my consultation, training, and professional development services, through which I support individuals, organizations, and communities seeking to deepen their understanding of complex social issues and develop actionable strategies for meaningful change.
My Philosophy
I believe lasting social change occurs when knowledge meets action, when those most impacted by systemic inequities are centered in decision-making, and when leadership is guided by both compassion and accountability.
My work is rooted in a simple principle: Everyone deserves safety, stability, dignity, and the opportunity to thrive.
As I continue growing as a leader, educator, scholar, and social work professional, I hope this space inspires thoughtful conversations, collaboration, and a shared commitment to creating a more equitable society.
Thank you for being part of my journey.
